Tape the stencil to hold it in place – be careful not to let your acrylic paint get too runny and get under the stencil (where you don’t want paint to go). Once I used a thinner brush and was careful to paint “between the lines”, my butterflies came out beautifully! (At first, I used a thicker brush and was using broader strokes, going over the cutout parts and the stencil itself – but then the brush hairs would go where they shouldn’t which meant the paint went where I didn’t want it to!)
